Education is the road that children follow to reach their full potential in life.

Yet many
children in need around the country do not get a quality education where they can learn and develop.

The quality of education in all primary, secondary and post- secondary or tertiary level is very poor with a number of problems such as class size, insufficient resources, unequal access (gender and economic disparity), students lacking in soft skills and overall learning skills such as time management, organization, work habit and transferable skills.

The primary education in Bangladesh is riddled with a lot of problems. It is mostly centralized, quality of teaching is very low, numerous gaps like rural-urban, boys-girls, formal non-formal etc. are aggravating the problems in education.

A large number of children who is working to assist their family is the most hard-to-reach and very often termed as underprivileged children.

In Bangladesh, there are around 80000 primary schools enrolling over 5.0 million students and 17000 high schools enrolling 7.0 million students. Besides, there are over 1200 intermediate colleges, 24 public universities and 56 private universities.

Something is wrong when our children going to school while many children in Bangladesh scavenges through rubbish to earn a living. It is wrong when a child right to education are being denied. Every child has the right to education.

Without a basic education, children are often denied the chance they need to improve their lives. Education is the tool of knowledge; with this tool they can improve their lives and the lives of future generation.

Child labor is seen in the street more frequently in many countries of the
world specially in Bangladesh though government has not taken significant steps to solve this problem. In addition, NGOs and non governments organizations are not very much interested to create opportunities for the street child labour. The majority of street-involved children are engaged in various forms of informal income generation in order to contribute to the household economy or for personal survival. It has been argued that economic independence, and ability to contribute to the household, is an important psychological factor in street children’s resiliency, self-confidence and feelings of self-worth.as a result most of the street boy in Dhaka city have got involved in different types of crimes as criminal. They also do not get educational facility. As a result day by day crime is increasing in the country.

This poor but lovely village child working as a road sweeper. Her age would be around 8-9 years old but at this little age she works in the streets
which she wa
s not supposed to do. She has some basic rights to grow herself like a financially solvent child. She might have had some dreams, some hopes, some assurances of having financial freedoms but her poor family status has compelled her to do such odd jobs and made her an underprivileged child. May be as a nation, our collective failure is producing such lovely children as “Underprivileged”

Education is key to building a society that can overcome poverty in a sustainable manner.

"A brick could be used to perpetually feed the hungry, stop all wars, educate the masses, and ensure everlasting peace for all populations throughout time. Wait, I’m sorry, that’s not right. I was confusing a brick with a blanket. It’s a blanket that could be used for all those things."
